Micro Digital Announces ColdFire MCF52259 Support

Costa Mesa, California, January 22, 2009 — Micro Digital Inc. is pleased to announce that it has SMX® RTOS support for the new ColdFire MCF52259, announced by Freescale, today. Specifically, the smx real-time multitasking kernel, the smxNS TCP/IP stack, and the smxUSBH host and smxUSBD device stacks run on it, with full BSP and driver support.

As usual, Micro Digital is providing an out-of-the-box solution for the MCF52259 processor and the CodeWarrior development tools. This solution saves countless development hours getting things to work together and provides a head start on meeting development schedules. Visit www.smxrtos.com/eval for a free SMX.Blaze evaluation kit in order to try out this new processor immediately. The Blaze evaluation kit will come up running in a matter of minutes on the Freescale MCF52259 evaluation board. It allows adding and debugging code using CodeWarrior and smxAware. The latter provides not only smx kernel awareness with graphical analysis tools, but also networking and USB awareness. USB host and device demos are posted at www.smxrtos.com/demo.

The MCF52259 is aimed at low- to mid-size systems. In addition to on-chip 64KB SRAM and 512KB flash, it has an external memory interface (Mini-FlexBus), which allows connecting to two external memories such as SRAM and flash. The Freescale M52259EVB evaluation board is the first to feature the new Freescale MRAM technology.

SMX RTOS support of MCF52259 is available now. The price for a single-product, royalty-free license is $7,500 for the smx kernel and $10,500 for smxNS TCP/IP stack, or $15,000 total for smx and smxNS if bought as the SMX.Blaze bundle.
