Micro Digital Announces smxAware™ Memory Map Overview Tool
Costa Mesa, California, November 11, 2014 — Micro Digital is pleased to announce its new smxAware Memory Map Overview (MMO) tool, which allows the user to visualize how memory is being used by an smx application and to quickly zero in on memory problems. It adds yet another powerful tool to the popular smxAware debugger plug-in to help smx application developers solve problems more easily and quickly.
Seeing the proximity of one object or region to another may give clues about the cause of a problem, especially an unsuspected buffer or stack overflow. “This tool makes it very convenient to see where things are in memory and to look at the contents of heap blocks, messages, task stacks, and other memory structures,” said Marty Cochran, lead developer of smxAware. “As the Event Timelines tool has been a big help to engineers to see the run-time operation of their systems, MMO will be invaluable to them to see their application’s memory utilization,” he concluded.
“Several years ago I had the idea to create a memory visualization tool for smxAware that would give an overview of memory layout that worked like Google Earth, allowing the user to zoom from a very broad view down to individual bytes,” said David Moore, Director of Development. “So I am very excited to announce the MMO tool we have added to smxAware and to finally be able to put it into the hands of our users. smxAware was already a powerful tool that many users could not live without. Now we have added substantially more value to it and to the SMX RTOS kernel.”
For more information about the smxAware MMO tool, please see the smxAware datasheet at www.smxrtos.com/rtos/devtools/smxaware.htm.
Availability and Licensing
MMO is available immediately, as part of smxAware v4.2.1. smxAware is provided at no charge to smx users to increase their productivity in developing smx-based applications.
