FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
USB Stack Enchancements
Costa Mesa, California, October 2, 2006 - Micro Digital Inc. has announced several enhancements to its previously announced smxUSBH™ USB host stack and smxUSBD™ USB device stack. Both USB stacks have been upgraded to comply with the USB 2.0 Specification. As a result, both stacks are now able to support low, full, and high-speed USB operations.
In addition USB On The Go (USB OTG) support has been added in the form of a new product, smxUSBO™, our new USB OTG stack. smxUSBO can operate with either the smx USB host stack or the smx USB device stack, or both. All three stacks are priced separately to afford users the greatest flexibility.
To support these developments a USB Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI) driver has been added for the USB host stack. Also, an NXP (Philips) ISP176x driver has been added. Both support USB high speed (480 Mbps) operation. In addition, USB controller drivers are now available for most Freescale ColdFire, Atmel ARM, Freescale ARM, Sharp ARM, and STMicro ARM on-chip USB controllers. More are being added every month. These make Micro Digital USB stacks truly drop-in solutions. Demos are available.
All smx USB products have been designed from the ground up for embedded systems. They comply with applicable specifications and support all four USB data transfer modes (control, bulk, isochronous, and interrupt) and low, full, and high speed operation. USB host class drivers are available for mass storage drives, mice, keyboards, printers, and hubs. USB device class emulators are available serial, mouse, mass storage, and composite devices. These operate with standard Windows® USB class drivers, thus providing easy connection to any Windows machine.
All smx USB products are written in ANSI C, and can be ported to any hardware platform. They are optimized for Micro Digital's SMX, but can be easily ported to other RTOSs. The products are modularized and feature small footprints and good performance.
Pricing and Availability
All products are available now for: $10,000 smxUSBH, $6000 smxUSBD, and $5000 smxUSBO. USB controller drivers are $1000 to $2500. Various bundles are offered: $12,500 USB Thumb Drive Bundle (includes FAT file system) and $20,000-22,000 USB OTG bundles including all the three USB stacks and all USB controller drivers.
